dude! just heard tonight from a friend of a friend in Germany that Monkey47 just sold!!! Buy the craft stuff now before it becomes mega-market crap!
True. Just googled it and found an article in German news that Pernod Ricard now owns a chunk of them. Looks like they still maintain production. Will see what it does to quality...
Really very good, I was impressed. Very smooth, no burn - I understand that for rum purists, the after burn is important, but damn if you couldn't drink this straight all day. And at 90 proof too. Loads of honey, vanilla, caramel and sweet sugar. Very little funk, very little funny stuff at all. Like drinking candy.
I prefer it to many more expensive rums, even those with big age statements.

That said, I drink rum with a bourbon palate.
Then you absolutely have to get your hands on Winter Park's Dog Island Rum.
Not in the tropical rum lane at all. As a bourbon enthusiast you would really get some enjoyment out of their interpretation.
@jacksonbrown
They do look delicious. Where you find them. In Aussie?
Can't stand bundy but my favourite is Pussers only because that's the best I can get. Love to experience some other good ones.
It's not that expensive My Pussers costs 60 / 70 and good old Dan Murphys has the reserve at $100. Next time I am in town if feeling flush I will but one.

The old cigar bar in hawthorn. Don't know what it's called now.
The exclusive reserve is worth every penny. Love it

Dans has Solera 23 as well, it's a great rum.

I LOVE this rum. Real smooth.
It reminds me of being in Cuba where it cost almost nothing, come back to the UK and its £60+ per bottle :-/
I considered smuggling a bottle back
That's the one I tried. Very sweet and caramely, lots of vanilla with a bit of banana.
I liked it.
Found in an old railroad tunnel in eastern California?
That label makes some mighty bold claims (for a one-eyed fatman ;) )
I'm more like I am now than I was before.
My summer favorite so far...
Rogue Society gin from across the ditch in NZ.
A very pronounced and strongly flavoured drop. Quite nice but subtle as a punch in the mouth.
Goes great with chocolate torte!
