Still buzzing,
Tried 6 different heating elements, 3 regular from water heater and washing machine, and 3 from water kettles.
The ones from water kettles doesn't buzz. The SSR is heard to buzz some though.
I'm starting to wonder if it's my wiring..
Right now it's like this:

After reading all of this, it confirms what I've been thinking all along:
Propane mo bettah! :))
Agreed, especially for a potstill, (I'm currently learning electric on a vodka still, and that seems ok, but not for a pot) but I have an issue. I've got a Bayou Classic burner that I love and the throttle is not a valve but a regulator, and repeatability is difficult. I'm thinking of adding a pressure gauge after the regulator. How have you addressed that issue?

Bayou Classic Brass Control Valve @ Amazon
or same-same for half price at Beer Brewing and Kegging Supplies
I'm more like I am now than I was before.
Great! In place of the regulator, or after? And thanks.

Downstream from the regulator. Open the regulator completely and control with the valve.
Homebrewers... huh. A crafty lot, no? (Kettle boiler-overs suck!)

I like it. Now it'll be easier to teach Kathy how to run her potstill.

I added a link to a half-price one at homebrew.org in my post above (after you responded). Same needle valve as Amazon, but only $7.99.

Even better. Thanks again.
