With a normal clipped coat, not the show ring pom-pom, one of the nicest looking breeds you can get. Nice choice.
It's a monster for 6WO.
Where's the hair on its nose????
I have had poodles for all my life. But I prefer a natural look on them (my last one looked like a too large teddy bear), everything else is too much work and a dog should have a dog's life and not that of a super model ;)
The face is usually shaved, it is more practical. The coat of poodles never stops growing.

A very intelligent breed.
Once upon a time I had a girlfriend who had a standard poodle. He looked like an unsheared lamb. He was smart as all get out. He and I were great friends. We used to run on the beach together every morning. When my girlfriend and I stopped seeing each other, I missed the poodle way more than I missed the girl.

well, who ever had a standard poodle will most likely stick to that breed.
They even are used as police dogs in Germany, not for finding drugs and such, but for real police work.

Oh I think drugs work classifies as real, expecially if the dog is expected to retrieve the drugs from wherever you are hiding them! :))

We had an Afghan once. Princely looking dog especially when he was brushed.
But dumb?

A friend of mine had a bullmastiff. That dog was dumb as a stump. And HUGE! My friend could use the dog's collar for a belt. The dog would stare, fascinated, at a spec on the wall for hours.
