Hi Guys
Do you think you could use a big baby dephlagmator as a product condensor on an Ace build?
I'm thinking you could so long as your cold mains water doesn't get to warm in the summer, here in the UK it's still pretty cold, even in the middle of summer.

Maybe with many more, smaller through tubes. But not the current 3 tube set up. Running speeds would be god awful slow even with packing in the tubes....IMO.

But you could likely collect a drip at a time like the old days.

I don't think it's worth slowing down that much to save what is really a few dollars tween the big baby and the medium shotgun. You'll forget the price difference long before your kids stop using the equipment. Or their kids.

Maybe, but according to my "back of a fag packet" maths trying to calculate the surface area of the inner pipes, the 7 x 10mm tubes at 202mm long in the PC and the 3 x 16mm tubes at 149mm long in the dephlag.
The dephlag has 80% of the cooling surface area the PC but has a 9% wider opening, the total area of the 3 x 16mm holes is 9% wider than the total area of the 7 x 10mm holes.
If only I had a shit load of shiny bits to experiment with :-(
Don't you worry, we have it all available from stock here. ;)

Lol, I'm sure you do
I'll be ordering a few more sections for the Baby CD over the weekend.
Plus I'm looking for an adapter to go from 2" tri-clamp to 1" BSP thread, do you have these? The one on your shop says its NTP thread.
We currently only have the following two adapters from 2" TC to 1" thread available:
2" Tri-Clamp to 1" Male Pipe Thread Adapter
2" Tri-Clamp to 1" Female Pipe Thread Element Adapter
The information we had said that the 2" Tri-Clamp to 1" Male Pipe Thread Adapter is NPT, but I just screwed it into the 2" Tri-Clamp to 1" Female Pipe Thread Element Adapter (which is BSP) and it just fits.
I'm not a threads expert, maybe someone else can confirm that 1" BSP & NPT threads are interchangeable? Otherwise it would suggest that the 2" Tri-Clamp to 1" Male Pipe Thread Adapter is BSP after all as well.

There is an alternative solution. Not quite as compact but certainly doable. Just mate an endfeed threaded adaptor into a copper or brass 2" triclamp ferrule and solder it yourself. ;)
@Anavrin & @SDeurope - check out gal vs not thread
At 1" the pitch is different. Might be something that can be forced if you're not planning on taking it apart again...
They are BSP

Don't forget the the purpose of the reflux condensor is to partially/completely knock down the vapour load.
It does this, just, but it returns steaming hot vapour to the column. Not something you want in your parrot.

Just realised my error, the one I have is the Big Baby Dephlagmator
Lol, that's what I get for replying while driving, already says Big Baby in the title :-)
I think it'll work as a PC but instead I've decided I'm going to switch to a VM setup and instead of a valve, I'm going to mount the Big Baby at a 45° angle pointing up and control the take off with it, should make for an interesting experiment.
