Any reason why you would want to use a brown bottle and a steel cap?

I have them and will not be using them for beer.

To the best of my knowledge, ageing requires air contact and with a capped bottle this will be a bad end experiment.
What’s the plastic seal material on the cap?
Asking because I remember a time when PVC was common.
Whiskey would already be aged as stated in question. Good question on the seal.
I'd think corking them would work better IMO
