On Grain Fermentation - Beer

Hey I was just wondering the other day if someone here has made beer using ongrain fermentation. Ie ferment ongrain, lauter at about 72 horus or so, boiler after launter, add hops during the boil, filter and bottle ?? I know ongrain fermenting is mainly used for whiskey, and I am a big believer but I was wondering if anyone here had tried it for some home brew.
