I am wondering if anyone can explain how this device, used by the distillery who make Crystal Head vodka, works. It is the piece of equipment i am looking at, not the crystals.
Does this act as a 3 filter process, like Crystal head claim and what sort of flow rate/pressure do you think is being used, as i can't imagine running their vodka over the crystals would make a great deal of difference.
Is this is a piece of equipment makes for a slow filtration, could you use other filtering material in this type of thing?
Thanks

Looks like some shiny rocks in a $30 filter housing.
+1. Standard cheap plastic filter housing. More show than functionality.
That is what i thought, wasn't sure if it had a specific way of working
Rocks???? Crystals Sir. Those are crystals.......

Looks like the polymer used in baby diapers that retains water, sodium polyacrylate.
The "crystals" are quartz herkimer "diamonds"

You’re not serious. None of you have a chrystaline deionization nebulizer on your columns? The one above is obviously a DIY version crafted from a standard clear-walled water filter housing.
How do you prevent reactive organofunctionalized silanes from forming toxic nanofilm deposits in your product condenser without one?
I'm more like I am now than I was before.
Just kidding. An ionization nubulizer was a toy space raygun that they used to advertise for kids during Saturday morning cartoons when I was just a wee lad.
The rest of it is just gobbledeegook I copy and pasted from a dive into google fu.
The crystal filled filter housing pictured in the OP is total bullshit.

Wait, wuuuttt?
Take it back. Say it isn't so.
