Look like they would cause flooding, not enough open area. You'd probably need to oversize the filter, using a 4" for a 2" column for example, using reducers on top and below.
You can always open it up a little bit if it floods / drilling / I see no problems with that.especially if you only fill it half way. However one or two inches more height would make it easier to fill. Well it looks nice.
