The reception went long. Even longer for me because I’m staying at McMenamins until Monday. I stayed and helped some of the ADI folks finish off the salmon. Gin & tonic and smoked salmon! Wow! Who knew? No worries about malaria for me!
Posting pictures from an iPhone X is challenging. I have some really nice ones on my DSLR, but I have no way to transfer them from the chip to my phone or pad. Left the laptop back on Gilligan’s Island.
I don't think i've ever seen Jeff without a drink in his hand and i spent two weeks with him once.
He's like Julian from the Trailer Park Boys, but without the cola.
Hey, ask them who's handbag that is on the floor. (bet it belongs to the Bagwan with the hippy beads.)
Plaid is actually part of the Oregon uniform. That and a full/large beard, the StillDragon crew could pass for natives like that. Faux lumberjacks everywhere.
Hey Kapea, what didja think of the gorge? Did you by any chance go by the old road instead of I 84? Some of my best memories are up that gorge.
I haven't heard it for years, but at the base of the upper Multnomah Falls, it sounds like hisses and cracks instead of the kind of splashes that water's supposed to make.
I went from Troutdale to Bridal Veil on the historic road. East of that was closed due to landsldes caused by last fall’s fire.
Stopped by Multnomah Falls. It is truly magestic. Then I headed on out to Hood River. A friend who brews at Maui Brewing knows a brewer at P. Frieling Family Brewery there. So we had a tour, food and beer. Great beer, good food, and the most sparkling clean stainless steel I’ve ever seen in a brewery. It was so clean you could eat off of the floor. Lots of automation and instrumentation as well. An amazing 15 bbl brewhouse!
Watched the sunset behind Wyeast from a park on the Columbia River right across the street from the brewery. No open containers prohibited laws, and recreational pakalolo is legal there as well. (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)
One of the coolest days of my life so far. I have seen pictures of the Columbia River Gorge, but pictures don’t even begin to convey the majesty. I burned through about 32GB of memory on my DSLR.
Here’s one I made with my phone when flying out of PDX this morning:

That would have been interesting as there are a lot of good topics in the outline.
45 minutes for the Gin Tonic Reception is a little short though.

Wow, Punkin, has word of Oregon's bagwan spread as far as Australia? That was our darkest (or silliest) moment.

Been watching it on Netflix Bob. Best documentary i've ever seen. It's called Wild Wild Country and i'd recommend the show to anyone. Great stuff.
