  • Not from this supplier, but after searching the ole iner web, gizmo bay and amazzzoon this is this is your best bet for your $$ Sometimes you find singles on gizmo bay but you pay so much u r better off buying 2 from SD,USA..that is Solutions Direct..(not still dragon) and if you only need one, get your buddy, or pal/friend who is thinking about taking the plunge, to go in with you and you split the cost., and tell him how good your SD stuff works and get him in touch w/ Smaug...create another monster..:-) and join...

  • @Hollis said: captains hooch. get you Some hightemp silicone food grade hose from any brew sito andput it on your Parrot to your bottles been doing it for years. that hose is round 2.50 a foot here in the states

Or platinum cured medical silicone tube!

It is what you make it!

  • This was a cleaning run with vinegar wash. By the time I make my first true run, a table will be set up near parrot similar to the one harboring the controllers, so ne need for tubbing, ie. straight into main collection vessel, but thanks for the input. :-)

  • hooch. where Can I get a Potienometer Gauge sticker from. is yours a plate Or sticker ?

  • It is an aluminum plate, from Allied Electronics , made by Ohmite. 2-3/16 in. dia.

@punkin said: Emptyglass uses a lot of our guards on his builds, i'll ask him what his preferences are. We definately don't need the huge ones as very few people here have access to the curcuits you guys have in the states. Normal household curcuit is rated to 10 amps, with 15 amps a heavy duty specialist socket in some sheds.

I like the mid sized ones, but the small ones work well for most guys. It would be great to see the earth screw size go down to M4.

  • Print your own onto a blank DVD. :)

  • CH this is total porn mate keep these images coming i would love to have a setup like that I have used these stainless fittings on my HERMS unit they just make it look more pro is all i think the plastic ones are just fine ;)

i know what your saying @emptyglass but we all need to up size somewhere =))

guess I'm special with a 32A cct for my boiler :)>-

@captainshooch where dod you get the dial indicators to go under your pot knobs? They look good

  • How about a decal or clear sticker like the StillDragon logo that many have received with their Dash purchase. Perhaps get the dial made so it could be peel and stick? Probably would be cheap enough to just toss one in with the sale of a DIY kit or sell for a few cents each.

There would be a small stamping mold fee to get them cut round and another for a hole in the center. It would be a easy and cheap solution. Just need one of you guys to provide me with the clean artwork at 100% scale.

The center hole in the decal may not be necessary, just crosshairs where to drill the hole. Square cut is always cheaper but cut round just reeks of class.

    Thoughts?

  • @Lloyd I like that idea, center hole not much of an issue, can punch with paper hole puncher or drill after glued/stuck if sticky back, with the same bit used for drilling the pot stem hole, and since it is covered by knob no need to get super fancy, and yes round looks classy but square with round markings will do just fine and it gives you extra room for the SD logo. We need @Law_Of_Ohms to come up with the design.

  • That looks awesome. I want one

These may be a good start if someone want's to clean them up further?

    image image image

You will also need to print them at around 65% of full size

Just add the Still Dragon Logo and Fester's your uncle :)

  • Thanks @captainshooch and @Philter. I'm thinking black print on clear to keep the cost down. Full color will be expensive for a small run of perhaps 2,000 pieces.
I recently had 1000 "Fragile" stickers made that are probably twice the size of the needed dial sticker and they only cost about 4 cents each. Although not printed on clear, they were printed with red on white.

Crappy photo, the sticker looks better than the picture.

One color on white should be OK, too?

  • @Lloyd since most BUD boxes are light color, black ink on clear sticker will stand out. Or black backgroung with white letter would fit any box color. You make them and I will take mine off and replace them with the SD ones :-)

  • I am glad you are thinking of this because I remember watching a video of a cleaning run and it inadvertedly advertised for the controller manufacturer, some hillbilly, that was used in that run. Do not mean to offend anyone, just think it would be a lot better if SD stuff shows up on SD videos as part of the complete package.

  • Thanks to @crozdog for sending a link with a pot template and to @Philter because I'd like to immitate the top pic layout.
Heading off to the CAD guy now to see if he can do the final artwork then check back with the printer. A quick stop at the printer this morning and I saw a nice silver Mylar that black print would look good on (and who among us can transfer a clear sticker without leaving fingerprints embedded on the edges of the sticker?).

@captainshooch, I agree that SD would be a nice touch to a SD DIY box. When this project is available, anyone that wants a free sticker just send a stamped, return addressed envelope to your SD distributor or ask for it with your next order. I figure it should be included with the sale of a knob when the distributors get them.

We came up with this but I lost the set screw for the knob while in the CAD guy's office. After printing it on paper and coming home to get a new know its about 4 degrees out. I set it at zero and turn the knob and it maxes out at 96 instead of 100. I tried several pots and all were the same. Online info says 270 degrees but that's not quite right. I'll take several pots and knobs back tomorrow (weather permitting - typhoon is coming our way) and try to get this a bit more spot on.
Layout, printing and everything for 3000 labels is only about 4 cents each. The strange thing is that Tan ordered more knobs this morning and got a 4 cent per piece discount. It all works out, don't it? :)

  • That's a might fine template there @Lloyd. Just curious, what's the diameter of the label?

Could you also put the Dragon image in between Still [Dragon image here] Dragon?

Stay safe in the typhoon - the szcechuan peppercorn nuked spirit should keep you warm!

  • Current diameter is 50mm but could change.
The Dragon logo is shaded and does not lend itself to insertion.
High winds and much cooler temps today and no peppercorns to cook down at the moment (insert sad face here).

Debating putting an outer ring around the dial with the words, "SET KNOB TO ZERO BEFORE POWER ON OR POWER OFF". But that may increase the footprint beyond acceptable because the real estate is so tight on a DIY box. Thinking maybe that would be a blurb best spent on a separate small label that could be positioned on the side somewhere?

  • love the new quote Lloyd i think the Kiss method might work on the dial but the dragon looks mighty mean after the custom work done to the box I would use the dial sticker then have the dragon sticker to the side of dial might make it look super sick B-)

Kinda think an image of our SGK as the dial indicator /scale would kinda look cool too. Just thinkin out loud is all.

  • The only fault with this idea folks is that most controllers are not linear. This is the dial for my first 3 kW controller.

    image

Perhaps a simple linear dial but with an additional stick on chart that can be annotated with the actual power levels - calibrated - for your individual element.

  • Awesome point Myles!

  • It only needs to be repeatable, not actual.
