Just wondering has anyone made Apple Pie Moonshine with a substitute for apple juice concentrate witch most recipes seem to call for? A little difficult to find this concentrate in Aussie Land.

Wineos basic Apple Pie recipe > no concentrate involved at all...
I can vouch for Apple Pie in that recipe. Works and i have the scars to prove it.

Cool i will have to experiment i guess thanks for the replys
Radar, you can get all the ingredients @ Coles or Woolies (sorry don't have an Aldi so can't comment) - do a search on the recipe, theres bucket loads of them out there and then experiment the hell out of it. Its very nice... from another Ozzy.
Thanks EZi i will check out a search on google and see what i can find if anything it will be interesting seeing what i can come up with :)
No need to search google, Skall has provided a link to the recipe in the recipe section on the site here that works first time everytime in his post above.

Thanks punkin and skall will definalty give this a try cheers
Do you leave the apples in, or eventually remove them?
I remove them after a while mate the start to go a bit skanky after three or four weeks. Some people don't.

Cheers mate, only been 24 hours and already going brown :-)
Since I will try almost anything with rum, I think I'll try this with some of my white rum. What's the worst that can happen?
I have a fermenting tank with a run of UJ that I haven't even checked on in over a year. Almost afraid to open the lid (and that's from a guy who wraps his arms around aged dunder). Maybe I'll use that if it pans out.
Perhaps make an apple pie with the slices after two weeks?
Sounds like it will be will matured florida. you will have to let us know the outcome :)
I made mine with oaked rum as I have plenty, tastes bloody good already, hard to leave it alone in fact :-)
My experience is that the apples after a few weeks have given up whatever good they have. Would make for a very bad pie. I have tasted the slices and spit them out.
I have a 2-3 year old jar(heck, maybe 5), the slices are now just '100-proof shots' now, fairly soft, but hold together.. and my neutral was not as good as I now do (I thought it was awesome at the time, though), it might have been the first run or two from my 4-plate 4" DASH-1
Now the wait begins :)
Bet it was easier getting them in there than it will be getting them out.

Haha, yep. Was thinking that as they went in :)
Stick blender or cordless drill with a folding blade will make short work of them once you get the booze out.

Ahh, cool. Thanks. I need to stockpile some neutral and then use a big ss pot next time :)
we used 4l cookie jars. Just threw away the rubber seal (although i can see the rubber is on there in that photo). Was ok for a month or two, after that the abv drops more than it's worth glass to glass.

Makes sense. Too bad, though.
