New stuff sometimes takes longer than we'd like and 8 months to get this (let's call it) DragonPlate (for now) right has certainly been a long time.
See you at the party and BYOB. <:-P

It is not earth shattering and I don't want to hype any product because a big buildup can be anticlimactic.
It simply needed to be hidden from view until it was available and I PROMISE you, you will never look at bubble plates the same way again. It will certainly be the new standard of performance and elegance. Nothing else out there quite like it really.
Well Lloyd I was impressed enough to pre-order some for my own personal column build, and I don't even have a price yet. :))
You are not going to be disappointed, and you will be the first one here in Europe who gets supplied with the new stuff! :)
As a general note I'd like to add, that we here at StillDragon Europe are expecting a nice large shipment, although it will not be here in time (no ETA can be told yet).

Does it retro to units already in use by folks?

The only sillae question is the one you don't ask folks...
The entire plate will fit all the original units. So yes, at a price. The price is having a set of spare plates.
This was not really designed for the 4" units, it was designed for 5" and up. As stated elsewhere, it won't be everyone's cup of tea. And most people in a hobby situation will not need it unless they have large boilers and long runs where the increased efficiency and output will justify the extra power requirements and expense.

would 5" be too small for 25kw(max) on a SD 380L boiler...
Time is money... You have a boiler that can support 8", and enough power to push 8". A 5" is less than half the surface area of the 8", so theoretically you'd have a run time of almost twice as long.
I definately wouldn't want to be waiting on a 5" column on a 380l spirit run. Lloyd is saying around 7l/hr on the 5". With a 40% charge that's a minimum of 21 hours to draw off the spirit, not including heat up, stabilisation, heads removal etc.

OK, 8" it is... I never really got an answer in the other thread:
Still Size vs Boiler Size vs Power vs Output
@Lloyd - can I custom order a 8" sight tower to have a bunch of the extra metal machined off? I will give $$$ up front...
I guess I can try to get someone here in FL-US to CNC mill it, but I could probably add CNC to my milling machine for that price...
Just a simple run of a end mill around the perimeter leaving lobes for the tension bolts would be a lot, but once it is in the CNC machine, you could cut half the weight off without losing strength, and have something no one could copy easily...
This is a sprocket carrier for a ducati.. $199US I would think for $200 we could get some nice work done by a CNC guy in your factory...
Maybe someday @CothermanDistilling but not any time soon. We're trying to get all of the shipments out, get ourselves restocked and complete all the many projects going on in the next 2 months. After then I'll be visiting my family in the US for a couple of weeks. Sort of a vacation from all this vacationing.
@CothermanDistilling Yes go with an 8" on a 380L. If I had to do it over again I would go with a 12" on the 946L charges I am running. May look to upgrade in the future and move my 8" over to a 380L for specialty runs.
Would make for a great dedicated gin setup.
Thanks, @RedDoorDistillery , that is the exact answer I am looking for... have a tentative 8-plat unit reserved, and working on getting the Sight Glass Tower machined down to be a little more high-tech looking... now for some cool tension rod brackets to stabilize the rods to hold 8 plates in a single section ;-)
@CothermanDistilling its not funny how close you are.... lol
