  • @harley said: Since you have such an extremely short time I can change my own posts for so I am very restrained with my posts here for my English, as you all notice the poor, and I am 100% against that one person can not change their own posts .... and there are some others who will mind if I post too many photos .... as evidenced by some comments ... so any single photo that can not be perceived as offensive because of its design and the comment will be just as long as the time constraint is left for me ...

The short editing time has its reasons, which has already been discussed internally, and the vote was to stick with it. It simply is undesired for a commented to be edited afterwards, because as it happens quite quickly that someone quotes and answers to something which otherwise may not be there anymore. Editing for bad phrasing can surely be done within 15 minutes from posting, and misspelling can simply be prevented by using a spell-as-you-type spellchecker in your webbrowser.

Nobody will ever mind you posting too many photos, I can not see any comments referring to such a statement, and I can not understand how your photos can be offensive.

Everybody here really is encouraged to post as many photos as possible however it fits the purpose, photos say more than thousand words! But please have a look at our guideline for posting images first, it explains all about it. I hope you don't mind that I rework most pictures for resolution, filesize and EXIF-metadata-stripping to optimize the user experience and forum performance.

  • I have 430mm 2" TC pipe with two 3/8th ports in it that would be perfect for a bottom flow "Dragon Philter" Just use a nipple in one port and a plug in the other. You could do the same thing at the top.

  • That sounds like a great addition to the "Dragon Philter" ;) Punkin, and a very useful product to use in the brewery as RIMS as well (or is it HERMES).

Jesus, I'll have to wait till the next pay or two, otherwise my wife will slaughter me (if she finds out). She already knows about some of the stuff I'm buying :-/

  • You earned that money Damnit! =)) =)) =)) That won't go far will it?

It is what you make it!

  • Yes, it's the rims tube part.

Nah, the little lady is pretty good. At least this hobby keeps me at home and not at a bar or strip joint. I can easily bribe her with money

Hmmm, definitely food for thought...... Do you also sell the 2" clamps you have pictured with the complete Rims system? X(

  • The offset mounts? Yes.

Using Harley's idea of multiple pipes of carbon I configured these with standard SD parts.
The first is using the flange from a 2" sight tower to mount the unit to the floor are table.
Filter discs, filter paper and/or cotton(?) could be inserted at any connection that you choose.

The second is mounted with pipe hangers to the wall.

  • Oh, I try to leave the factory plastic on any fittings that have them.
That's why some of the pipes and reducers look blurred.

  • That's one great looking SD filter Lloyd, matter of fact, ingenious :D

Looks similar to a swan neck - SD Swan Philter
Your design is way better than mine, and with reduced height. I'm jealous!

Fill both TC pipes with carbon, a filter disk at the 2" x 3/4 reducer and some cotton wool/filter paper. Even add another length of TC pipe to extend the ball valve.

If you didn't have those filter disks beside the wall mount, I would have sworn that was your shower head :))

    I really like it.

Is there a price on your site Punkin, or have missed it when looking through your S/S porn?

Exactly my thought, has to be named SD Swan something!

  • That's pretty as hell, but doesn't a lot of product get stranded in the neck?

No i don't have them listed seperately, i only stock them as part of the RIMS tube package. I could do them for $7.50 each. Good thinking Philter you could add as many up and down bits as you wanted to get the length you wanted all in under 1 meter, or just add extra TC sections in the up and the down.

The idea would be to order a 4" encap, gasket and clamp. That way your carbon stays wet and you only deposit the first couple of litres of product for no return and get it back when you pull it apart for reactivating or renew of the carbon. Just leave it full between uses.

Philter was the first to bring this new use of SD parts to our attention, so the range is named after him. Just fortuitous that he has such a fitting moniker :)>-

I'd think to pack both 180s with carbon. Pack the 2x 3/4 reducer with cotton?

I can only imagine that once the input level dropped to about where the black line is the system simply stops working, leaving the carbon fully covered until more is added to the reservoir.

I was at a new local bulk buy shop the other day in the home brew section looking at carbon and they had 400gram packs for $18nz, then at the back I spied a bug bulk bag that had the same sticker on it (400gram and same carbon) and when I went to pay for it he charged me $18, got home and weighed it and it was 4kg... might have to go back and get a few more bags before they catch on...

From the small size of Activated Carbon I tested (in just over 1M of 2" pipe), it was less than 1 Litre of product that filled the void from memory.

Definitely pack both 180s with carbon, and cotton wool in the 2" x 3/4" reducer.

    400 grams for $18 is a rip-off. Now for a bulk box, that's a score cleadus1. :))

Of course that makes sense, completely misread the above not thinking of Philter being part of the product name but addressed to @Philter. ;)

It just fits so well with the username when thinking of filtering...

I'm not going to be the one to start with the two headed or the aunty mom jokes that's for sure. :)) >:/

  • Ha ha, a bit of light hearted humour :D I usually explain to people that only the Tasmanian men have two heads........think about it.

Although the original joke probably came from a place called "Black Bobs". This would be an interesting thesis for a DNA researcher. :-&

  • As.... I am not an ozzie the humor must be lost in context...
