It looks like a barrel that's almost full. Nice heavy char on the wood by the looks of it. The oily surface is probably just a camera illusion?

So glad I got your curiosity up. It is the inside of my solera beer barrel with a nice pellicle floating around on the liquid ambrosia underneath. I had just spritzed the bung area with Everclear to keep the bug level exposure minimized. Hence oily appearance.
