Anyone use one...or two?
I've been eyeballing a neat little rig called the simple centrifuge that's used In small scale biodiesel production.
Had thought of using one in production to clear the wash prior to distilling. Also thought of using it on the finished infused product to pull out precipitates.
Experiences or other clever uses?

Our local brewery Cigar City just got one, $300k+, how many you want? LOL Here is the one at Surly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2F7KK76h14Y
The thought of using one for clearing washes has crossed my mind several times but the price puts them way, way out of my league.
the smaller ones, originally used for honey, now used by the biodiesel folks, are way cheaper, but it seems so much easier to just wait unless you are making it professionally..
May be em' TV moonshiners will come up with a dual 5 gallon bucket bicycle operated mountain centrifuge a-la-jim tom style. my wife volunteered to do the pedaling!! :))
There was a guy on Artisan made one out of a washing machine. Had a disaster one day too.

Unless I was a machinist with tools and equipement I would not mess around with a homebrew centrifuge. the centripital forces involved are impressive yet deceptive. too easy to mess it up and there are actually some decent commercially produced alternatives that are affordable.
In my opinion, if I need a centrifuge it's well worth it to me to pay for a reliable and proven version rather than spend the time to experiment. Thats me tho. To me my time is the most valuable commodity.
