When you break down each individual process it's really not that hard but unless you want to get right into it it can be very daunting
I have yet to give it a try for many reasons one being that I can sake pretty cheap
If you can get it cheap and it is good and you like it, then that's a good enough reason. I will give it a try, but prolly not for a while. I had a couple of projects go south on me while using flaked grains(can be a royal PITA) and i want to catch up on other stuff before winter sets in.

shochu is awesome as well , lived in japan myself for a while.....Rice makes a very clean spirit, I love it.
