G'day all,
I'm looking to configure some of my 2" SS gear into a filter. I had hoped to grab a mesh filter disk from @punkin, however he is out of stock.
So, in lieu of the disc, could i insert a roll of muslin between the carbon and the tap, and would this tarnish the product?
Any/all advice appreciated.
Thank you very much,
Elvis

I don't see why not, you'd probably want to filter it after the carbon anyhow, so letting some fines through would probably happen in either case.
You can try checking your local industrial suppliers for triclamp gasket screen/filter, but you'll probably pay dearly in comparison to the SD price.
The muslin would probably work fine for now to keep the carbon at bay until you can get your hands on a disc. I would be putting some cotton balls right at the bottom of the filter under the muslin too to help filter out the smaller particles.
In mine i have stuffed the 2" - 3/4" reducer with cotton for the same reason.
Good luck
Thanks for the advice folks.

I use non-woven geotextile often for filtering - Bidim trademark - works OK
