Can it be recovered?

I have some good neutral that I tried to infuse and now it tastes horrible. Do you think if I rerun it I can get the good ethanol back out and leave the flavors behind? I was thinking of pot stilling it to get it back clear, then running through some plates with a packed section.

Won't hurt to try but I know that some smells and flavors are in for life. If it improves, you might run it again.

What did you try to infuse it with? You can try to redistill to the point of getting neutral again, maybe in combination with active carbon filtering, but I can't tell if it's worth it, may also depend on the affected quantity.

Maybe you can mask it with something complimentary but stronger, like a tattoo cover up?

I'm thinking it may not be worth it. I ran some bacon fat in the boiler and bacon in the gin basket to try to make a bacon vodka. This was a bad idea. Then I tried infusion with both the above and its a lot better but still not what wanted. I used around two quarts of good neutral at 90% so I'm debating even worrying about it. If I knew the bacon fat wouldn't get all over the equipment I might re run it,but cleanup was a bear last time. I will probably chalk it up to a good lesson learned.

Honestly? Get out some crushed tomatoes and heavy cream and make a vodka sauce out of it. I sometimes chop up a little prosciutto and fry it as the base for a vodka sauce, to add a little bit more depth of flavor. Assuming it's not acrid or rancid or something, the bacon flavor might be a nice compliment.

Ran the whole mess through packed cooper mesh and six plates. Came out nice and clean tails stank terrible had to clean everything but recovered a lot of neutral
