Just curious. I am thinking about making some spiced rum when I get my distillery up and running and I was wondering if anyone have tried adding the spices by running a white rum through a gin basket set up ?? I cant think of any reason why it wouldn't work.

Sounds like a very good plan. Spices come over very well in a macerated distillation too, but at different times in the run for different spices.

Maybe this is up for some intrepid soul with a Gin Basket to go where no other home distiller has gone before.
I know when I make mine (not in a basket) that each ingredient stays in the spirit for different amounts of time. You would have to have the perfect amount of each otherwise one or the other ingredients might overpower the rest. Wishing you luck though.
Cool idea, surprisingly haven't heard of a lot of people doing it.
Just thinking outside the box. Someone might try it.
Thinking more outside the box, use a double gin basket set up and you can make two different flavours at the same time if you want to experiment. The same can be said for making two different flavours of gin at the same time.
Can do a combo of macerated and vapor infused. Orange comes over pretty dern'd spectacular.....I have read.

Love this idea following
Orange pineapple vanilla what's your ideas?
My buddy does an amazing spiced rum all vapor.
Cinnamon peppercorn orange peel clove vanilla bean allspice nutmeg. Add homemade caramel for colour/taste
Basically yes it works damn well
How about a lick of cardamom or a tiny bit of kalonji. Take some inspiration from some of the Indian deserts.
I'd steer less towards the sweater spices and make it a bit 'spicier' to combat the sweet ruminess.
Spiced Baba in a bottle.
Currently working on a gin based on Kumeyaay diet (sage, pine, elder, etc) so @jacksonbrown, +1 for cultural diversity!
Think I might give this a go.
