One of my pro customers has asked me if anyone has retrofitted insulation to one of our 120l and up single wall kettles. Wondering if there is someone here that would be willing to trade some info with him.

Where are they? I know quite a few SE tank manufactures. Are they after the DIY budget version or get someone in for best practice?
a few welding blankets sewn together to resemble grandma's couch slip cover would probably give quite a bit of help if there is any air movement around the kettle...
I use moving blankets on my boiler. Kinda quilt like and if nothing else, they keep me from burning myself on the boiler.
Just keep in mind fire resistance.
Moving blankets is a good idea or wool carpet underlay.
I used this and a roll of this on a keg. It works well but it's fugly as hell and not very durable.
If I was doing a bigger one I would probably use rockwool clad in SS sheet.
tht is why i figured a welding blanket... good enough for that, good enough for us...
Yeah, if your welding blanket catches fire, you have bigger problems to deal with. Probably some thermite involved.
