Since that's a fairly high sugar concentration, any chance you had some undissolved that finally dissolved? Or possibly it cooled from a warmer original, thereby increasing density?
After 3 days it has finally started coming down, I think you were right that it was just dissolving a bit more over time.
Its the first time I have done a sugar wash or a high gravity one and it just confused the hell out of me as usually 24-48 hours and primary is nearly done. Not the case with sugar apparently
Just off the cuff ..... Unless you are doing vodka or a neutral, why are you looking to do a high gravity wash. You loose flavour by comparison to say a wash at 8%.
