My Micro Gin/R&D Boiler

edited June 2015 in Usage

So I lucked out on a great little vessel for use as a small boiler for gin and test recipes, and am looking for input on how to best heat it. The container itself is a 10L Eagle Stainless BTB-21"bottle" with a 4" ferrule opening. I would like to be able to use this on a countertop with 110v power and don't really want to go through the trouble of getting a ferrule welded in for an immersion element.

I was thinking about a simple hot plate, but the bottom of the bottle is slightly conical in the middle, with about a 5mm gap from the bottom rim, and I don't know how much that would reduce the efficiency. Does anyone have any experience with infrared units and how they might function with this? I have also looked at some band heaters, but most with sufficient power (min 1500w) are a bit wide for the bottle's 8.5" diameter. I am open to any suggestions/sources, thanks in advance for the help everyone.
